Pants the Sheep

This year one of our girls is going to be in the Christmas play at church. Pants is going to be a Shaggy, Smelly Sheep!

That's what they call her in the play. I personally think she smells quite nice! She is very excited to be a part of the play this year. She likes going to the practices and she is learning the songs.

Sometimes the sheep get a little too into the music.

She's waiting for her cue to do her favorite part. Chasing the shepherd!
She's a very quiet sheep.

I am very happy Pants is enjoying being a part of her first play.
She loves being on the stage!

A Look Back....
I thought it would be fun to post a few photos from our first Corn Maze Day!
Pants and Pie Pie were so little then.

They have grown up (and are continuing to grow) beautifully!
Smiles,
Nikki!

Fifth Annual Smith - Edgar Corn Maze Day

It's hard to believe this is our fifth corn maze day. My Mom always plans a wonderful day for all of us. We start out the day at the corn maze. The kids had a wonderful time climbing on each other and a giant pumpkin.

Then we headed into the maze. The kids love to find the question signs that are supposed to help you through the maze

We made it out of the maze rather quickly this year. I don't know if we are getting better at the maze or if we were hungry!

Then we went back to my parents' house for the kids to decorate pumpkins. Stickers are my favorite for kids. They can do it all by themselves and no mess!

Then it was on to a yummy dinner of 'Sketti and Worms! There was also some meatballs!

For dessert we had Puddin' and Eyeballs!

Little blurry, but we were laughing!

We had a great time and lots of laughs!

Expanding My Options

Anyone who knows me, knows I love to read! I love to read lots of different kinds of books, even kids' books. There are, however, a lot of books that I haven't read. I decided to take a chance and read some "Literature". I have a list in my head of what I want to try. Here are reviews of some of them I have read so far. I don't give away too much in case you want to read them yourself.

Lord of the Flies by William Golding.
This is a strange story. It starts out interesting with a group of young boys stranded on a deserted island. I love a good survival story! As the story continues it just gets crazier and crazier! I really sympathized with Piggy and was sad when his glasses broke. This book was okay. I kind of skimmed the end because it got so weird.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
This is  a story about a young girl growing up in the South. The time period was when everyone did not share equal rights, especially in that part of our country. This story was very well written and a favorite in my list so far. I would definitely recommend this book!

The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck.
This story was set in the 1930's right after the Great Depression. Even though this book is a very sad tale, I really liked it. I don't know a whole lot about that time period in our history and I thought it was educational. The characters in the story were very real. They did the best they could with what they had. The ending was a bit strange, but I would recommend this book.

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath.
This is a very unusual story. It was kind of confusing, but I enjoyed the crazy ride. You are just dropped into this girl's life and have to catch up with what is going on. I enjoyed this story, but there was one part I had to put the book down and take a couple of deep breaths. It was a bit overwhelming. After a moment I could continue reading. If you like bizarre books, read this one!

I have also currently tried two Jane Austen books. I'm not sure I am going to get through a whole one of those. I will try again soon. Right now I'm reading Watership Down. Gotta love the bunnies!

Feel free to give me some suggestions if you have a favorite book you want me to read!

The ARTistry of Pants

Pants loves to draw and she is very detailed about her drawings. She is also a bit excessive. They are everywhere! I go through them occasionally and take pictures of our favorite ones!
Here is some of her latest masterpieces!

She painted this one with her cousin. I believe it is a self portrait and the sun.

This is a drawing of her favorite stuffed animal of the week, Magenta. There is also a happy butterfly.

Say, "Hello!", to Mr. Snowman with the fancy eyelashes. I love his wiggly branch arms! In order to assist in the creating of this particular masterpiece, I was rudely awakened to sharpen her white pencil!

This is a beautiful picture of people with a yummy pie. They are standing in a flower garden with some butterflies, a bird and a sun. The butterfly on the left is going down to the flower.

This is one of my recent favorites! It is a boy picking up the stick to put in the campfire. He is going to sleep in his tent at night.

I'm sure there will be more to come!

"A" is for Alex

We finally made it back to the horse farm!

Pie Pie is back on her horse!
This time she got to ride a different horse named Alex.

We took Daddy along with us and her got to see Pie Pie ride!
Alex is trying to get a snack out of his pocket.

Pants loves the horses too. Even though they sneeze on her!

Before a ride you must remember to polish your horse's hooves!

Don' forget to give your horse a snuggle!

Smiles,
Nikki!
